Meet Matt Williamson Physiotherapist

I qualified with distinction as a physiotherapist in 2011 from Glasgow Caledonian University. I have a passion for physical activity and thrive on the challenge of keeping people doing what they love.

I have a background in sports science, massage, personal training and as an ex-international athlete, all of which have helped shape and develop my skills as a physiotherapist.

My 10 years+ of experience as a physiotherapist includes working in the NHS, the Scottish Institute of Sport, with professional sports teams and as a tutor for Proactive Training, teaching undergraduate physiotherapy students sports massage.

Bespoke Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is more than being given a piece of paper with some exercises or popping up on the couch for a massage. I want to know what makes you tick, how you spend your day and what you want to achieve. I can then help build the right way forward for you as an individual.

A combination of education, rehabilitation and hands-on treatment often yields the best results.  I regularly work with everyone from the elderly to elite athletes. This helps keep my day varied and keeps me learning new skills.

Passion for the Outdoors

Before entering the world of physiotherapy, I completed a BSc (Hons) in Physiology and Sports Science. I worked as a personal trainer and sports massage therapist to fund my physio training.

Since a young age, I have always loved being outdoors and on the move, enjoying the benefits of both.  I took up cross-country running in my teens and have nurtured this hobby since. I have run and raced in road, hill, and trail running events. In 2013 after representing Scotland twice, I ran for Great Britain at the World Ultra Trail Championship. I have also dabbled with competing in triathlon, mountain biking and adventure races.
