Maximising your potential
Matt has always had a passion for running. He started running competitively in his school days where he primarily ran in cross-country events. Over the years he has been competitive in road running, hill running and trail running over a variety of distances from 3km to 100+ miles.
Having focused on marathon distance for a number of years and achieving a personal best of 2h34min in Belfast marathon in 2011 he then went on to focus on longer events.
Some notable achievements were completing the 95 mile West Highland Way Race (2014) in just over 16hrs and in 2015 he completed the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc a 105mile race around Mt Blanc covering 10,000m of elevation.
In 2011 and 2012 he represented Scotland and in 2013 he represented Great Britain in the World Ultra Trail Running Championships.
This wealth of experience along with his physio background and coaching qualifications give Matt a unique insight into the psyche and physiology of the runner/ endurance athlete.
The award winning film below was produced by Jon Earle at BeetProductions and gives a little insight into my life as an ultra runner
